Govt starts distribution of Free LPG Cylinders in State ahead of Diwali

With the Diwali festival approaching, the government has begun distributing free LPG cylinders to ensure that families can cook without any issues during the celebrations.

A significant gift for the beneficiaries in this state

The Uttar Pradesh government has kept its promise to 1.86 crore families in the state for Diwali.

A budget of Rs 1,890 crore has been set aside for this initiative.

Today, the state government announced that the ‘double engine government’ had committed to providing free cylinders, and efforts are underway to deliver on this promise.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, free LPG cylinders have been distributed in the state during the festivals of Holi and Diwali for the past two years.

The Food and Logistics Department is responsible for ensuring the distribution is completed as quickly as possible, following the government order issued for this purpose.

What steps are needed to get a free cylinder?

Women are particularly eager to receive these free cylinders, and their wait is nearly over.

The Aadhaar certification process is currently underway under this scheme, and those who have completed their Aadhaar authentication can get a free cylinder before Diwali.

These free cylinders will be given only to beneficiaries whose bank accounts are linked to Aadhaar and are active.

Last year, the government also distributed free cylinders

Last year, the government distributed free LPG cylinders to 1.85 crore families, including over 85 lakh women.

The price of a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder is Rs 842.42, based on September rates.

Under the Ujjwala scheme, the central government provides a subsidy of Rs 300 to each beneficiary, while the state government covers the remaining subsidy amount.
