With the increasing number of devotees expected during Maha Kumbh 2025, the government has taken steps to regulate airfares to Prayagraj.
The Civil Aviation Ministry announced an expansion in air services to meet the rising demand.
DGCA’s Meeting with Airlines
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) recently held a meeting with airline representatives.
Airlines were urged to keep ticket prices under control and increase the number of flights to manage passenger flow efficiently.
Expansion of Air Routes
Until December 2024, Prayagraj was connected to only eight cities. Now, it has direct connectivity with 17 cities and links to 26 others, including Srinagar and Visakhapatnam, through direct or stopover flights.
This expansion will provide passengers with more travel options and help stabilize fares.
Special Arrangements for Bathing Festivals
Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu has directed airlines to regulate fares during special bathing festivals.
Airlines have been asked to ensure adequate seat availability for devotees traveling to Maha Kumbh.
New Flights from Akasa Air & SpiceJet
Akasa Air will operate special flights from Ahmedabad to Prayagraj on January 28 and 29, with plans to introduce nine flights from Ahmedabad and 12 from Bengaluru in February.
SpiceJet is also set to launch flight services to Prayagraj from Delhi, Chennai, Guwahati, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Jaipur, and Hyderabad starting February 2025.
132 Flights Offering 80,000 Monthly Seats
Currently, 132 flights are operating from various Indian cities to Prayagraj, providing around 80,000 monthly seats.
The government aims to make air travel more affordable and convenient for devotees attending the Maha Kumbh.
Passengers to Benefit from Cheaper & Easier Travel
This initiative by the government and airlines will bring relief to lakhs of devotees.
With lower fares and improved connectivity, more people will be able to travel to Prayagraj and participate in the Maha Kumbh with ease.
