The Government of India runs many schemes to help its citizens, especially the poor and needy.
These programs aim to support those who struggle to provide food for themselves.
One important initiative is the National Food Security Act, which allows eligible people to receive ration at a low price.
To access this ration, the government issues ration cards to the beneficiaries.
New Action Against Inactive Ration Card Holders
Recently, the government has decided to take action against ration card holders who have not collected their rations for three consecutive months.
The goal is to ensure that those who truly need assistance can benefit from these government schemes.
If a person does not take their ration for three months, it indicates that they may not require it.
As a result, the government will block their ration cards and allocate the rations to other needy individuals.
In Himachal Pradesh, this policy is already in effect, where the government is blocking ration cards of people who have not taken ration for three months.
e-KYC Requirement for Ration Cards
Additionally, the government has instructed all ration card holders to complete their e-KYC (Know Your Customer) process.
Many people have not yet completed this requirement. The original deadline was September 1, which has now been extended to November 1.
The final deadline for completing e-KYC is December 1, 2024. Ration cards of those who do not complete the e-KYC process by this date will also be blocked.
