After the cancellation of the NEET UG 2026 exam, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the process of refunding application fees to around 23 lakh students.

The agency has confirmed that every candidate who paid the examination fee will receive a full refund.

Students will also not have to pay any extra fee for the NEET re-exam scheduled on June 21, 2026.

According to NTA, the entire cost of conducting the re-exam will be borne by the agency itself.

Students Must Update Correct Bank Details

To receive the refund smoothly, candidates must update their correct bank account details on the official portal.

NTA has announced that a special link will soon be activated on the official website where students can update their banking information.

Candidates will need to log in using their application number and other required credentials.

The agency has warned students to enter accurate bank details because incorrect information may delay the refund process.

Why NTA Is Allowing Bank Account Updates

NTA said that many students fill out their NEET application forms through cyber cafes or Common Service Centers (CSCs).

In several cases, payment is made using the bank account of another person or the center operator.

Due to this, refunds sometimes go to the wrong account.

To solve this problem, students are now being given the option to update the bank account where they want the refund amount to be transferred.

This will help candidates receive the money directly in their own account without any confusion.

How to Get NEET UG 2026 Fee Refund

According to the process shared by NTA, students will have to:

Visit the official NEET website

Click on the “Fee Refund” or “Bank Account Update” link

Log in using application number and required details

Enter bank account number, IFSC code, and account holder name carefully

Verify all information before final submission

After successful verification, the refund amount will be transferred directly to the candidate’s bank account.

How Much Refund Will Students Receive?

NTA will return the full application fee based on category.

The refund amounts are:

General category: ₹1,700

OBC and EWS category: ₹1,600

SC, ST, and PwD category: ₹1,000

Candidates are advised to use only an active bank account and keep checking the official NEET website for updates related to the refund timeline and further instructions.
