Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), a subsidiary of GMR Group, has received regulatory approval to increase the User Development Fee (UDF) at Delhi Airport.
The decision, aimed at enhancing airport infrastructure and promoting long-haul flights, was approved by the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA). The new tariffs will come into effect on April 16, 2025.
How Much Will Charges Increase?
GMR Airports has been authorized to raise the aeronautical tariff by about 148% for the current control period, which runs until March 31, 2029. The tariff will increase from Rs 145 to Rs 360.
As for the UDF, there will be no change for domestic passengers, who will still pay Rs 129.
However, for passengers departing from Delhi, the UDF remains at Rs 129, while those arriving at Delhi will pay a reduced UDF of Rs 56.
UDF for International Flights:
The biggest impact will be felt by international passengers, with a substantial increase in the UDF.
For economy class passengers on international flights, the UDF will rise by 403%, from Rs 129 to Rs 650.
Business class passengers will face an even higher increase, with the UDF jumping by 527% from Rs 129 to Rs 810.
Additionally, international passengers landing at Delhi Airport, who were previously exempt from the UDF, will now be required to pay a fee.
Economy class passengers arriving will pay Rs 275, while business class passengers will pay Rs 345.
This hike in fees could affect the overall cost of air travel, making tickets more expensive for passengers flying to or from Delhi Airport.
