Ranchi :
In Jharkhand, the government has decided to waive loans for farmers up to two lakh rupees.
This waiver will apply to loans taken from ₹50,000 to ₹2 lakh before March 31, 2020.
The government announced this loan waiver in the budget presented in February this year, and it was recently approved by the cabinet under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
Previous Loan Waivers
Earlier, loans up to ₹50,000 for over 4.73 lakh farmers were already waived.
The government provided more than ₹1,900 crore to banks to cover these waivers.
Village Heads’ Honorarium Increased
The cabinet has also decided to double the honorarium for village heads and office holders under the traditional village self-governance system.
Manki and Parganait will now receive ₹6,000 per month instead of ₹3,000, while Munda and Parganait will get ₹4,000 per month instead of ₹2,000.
Additionally, other roles such as Dakua, Paranik, and Godait will receive ₹2,000 per month.
The total increase in honorariums will cost the government approximately ₹89.59 crore.
Teachers and Non-Teaching Staff Benefits
Another key decision was to include teachers and non-teaching staff from state universities and affiliated colleges under the Old Pension Scheme.
Regular employees will benefit from this scheme starting December 1, 2004.
The cabinet also approved the creation of academic posts for the establishment of new medical colleges with 100 MBBS seats each in Koderma and Chaibasa.
