ESIC adds over 18 Lakh New Members in September

More people in the country have found new jobs.

The Labor Ministry reports that in September, 18.88 lakh new employees joined ESIC (Employees State Insurance Corporation), which offers health insurance for workers.

Among them, 3.51 lakh are women.

The number of new companies and establishments joining ESIC during this time is 22,544, contributing to the increase in this figure.

Youth and women got jobs 

Data from the Labor Ministry indicates that the most jobs were made available for young people. Out of the 19.88 lakh employees added during this time, about 9 lakh were below 25 years old. This makes up about 48 percent of all the new members.

Additionally, 3.51 lakh women employees and 61 transgender employees also became part of the ESIC Social Security Scheme during this period.

More than 150 ESIC hospitals across the country

Various programs are in place to help workers in the Central and State Government.

One such program is ESIC. It supports low-income employees by issuing an ESI card.

This card allows employees to receive free medical care from an ESI dispensary or hospital.

ESIC operates over 150 hospitals nationwide, providing treatment for common to severe illnesses.

How to become its member 

If an employee earns Rs 21 thousand or less per month, they can get its benefit. For disabled persons, this amount is Rs 25 thousand.

In the ESIC scheme, 1.75 percent is taken from the employee’s salary, and the company contributes 4.75 percent.

Benefits ranging from free treatment to pension for the family 

Under this program, employees and their families can receive free medical treatment.

There is also no limit on the amount spent on healthcare.

For retired employees and in case of disability, medical facilities are provided to the employee and their wife at an annual premium of Rs 120.

Cash payment is given for 91 days on sick leave, and maternity leave is also included.

Women receive 100 percent of their salary for up to 26 weeks after giving birth.

In the unfortunate event of the employee’s death, ESIC provides a benefit of Rs 10,000 to the family and pension to parents, wife, and children.
