There is good news for more than 8 crore EPFO members across the country.
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has started the process of crediting 8.25% annual interest to PF accounts for the financial year 2025-26.
EPFO has issued instructions to its regional offices to begin transferring the interest amount.
With the organisation’s new technology upgrade, members are also expected to receive their PF interest much faster than before.
EPFO Issues Instructions to Credit PF Interest
According to the latest EPFO circular, the Central Government has approved an 8.25% interest rate under Section 60(1) of the EPF Scheme for FY 2025-26.
Following this approval, EPFO has directed all regional offices to credit the interest amount to members’ PF accounts.
The Central Board of Trustees (CBT) had approved the 8.25% interest rate earlier this year.
After that, the proposal was sent to the Ministry of Finance, which gave its approval in June.
Notably, this is the third consecutive year that the EPF interest rate has remained at 8.25%.
PF Interest May Reach Accounts Faster This Time
EPFO has recently completed a major database integration and software upgrade, which is expected to speed up the interest transfer process.
Earlier, it often took one to two months for interest to be credited to all members’ accounts.
With the upgraded system, the process is expected to be much faster.
