EPFO members will soon be able to easily update their personal details, like name, through the EPFO digital platform.
This announcement was made by the Union Minister on Saturday.
The government has introduced reforms that allow members to make these changes themselves on the EPFO platform.
EPFO members can update their details independently
Union Minister of Labor and Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya, said, “EPFO has over 10 crore beneficiaries.
Previously, members had to go through a lengthy process to update their information.
However, with the new reform, members can now easily update their details on their own without external assistance.”
Resolving complaints and simplifying processes
Mansukh Mandaviya also mentioned, “EPFO has received around 8 lakh complaints regarding name and other information changes. This reform will address these complaints soon.”
Additionally, the Union Minister stated, “The government has simplified the EPFO account transfer process.
Members can now transfer their EPFO account between organizations using an OTP, a process that was previously lengthy.”
Centralized pension system rolled out
Earlier this month, EPFO announced that it has completed the rollout of the Centralized Pension Payments System (CPPS) across all its regional offices. This will benefit over 68 lakh pensioners.
With this new system, beneficiaries can withdraw their pension from any bank.
They will also no longer need to visit the bank for verification when starting the pension.
This change will be a relief for pensioners who return to their hometowns after retirement.
