Delhi Metro services have returned to normal after the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) called off its protest at Jantar Mantar.
With the agitation ending, all Metro stations across the network have resumed normal passenger operations.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) confirmed that all entry and exit gates are now open, bringing relief to thousands of daily commuters who had been affected by security restrictions over the past few days.
All Metro Stations Now Open
In a post on X, the DMRC announced that all Delhi Metro stations are once again open for passenger movement.
Several important stations in central Delhi had witnessed restrictions during the protest.
These included Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Mandi House, ITO, New Delhi, Lok Kalyan Marg, Patel Chowk, Janpath, Supreme Court, Delhi Gate, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, Shivaji Stadium, Jhandewalan and several others.
With the restrictions lifted, passengers can now use these stations normally without any entry or exit limitations.
Why Were the Restrictions Removed?
The restrictions were withdrawn after the CJP officially ended its sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar.
Following the announcement, security agencies removed barricades and reviewed the situation before restoring normal public movement.
Mobile internet services, which had also been suspended around the protest site, have now been restored.
The protest had gained attention over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination.
CJP Says Government Gave Assurances
The CJP said it decided to withdraw its agitation after receiving assurances from the government regarding its key demands.
According to the organisation, the Centre has agreed to consider several issues, including compensation for the families of NEET aspirants who allegedly died by suicide and the withdrawal of FIRs filed against protesters in different parts of the country.
The government has also assured that it will examine the group’s five-point proposal on examination reforms and take appropriate action after further discussions.
Education Ministry Sees Leadership Change
The developments come after Dharmendra Pradhan stepped down as the Union Education Minister following weeks of protests related to the NEET-UG controversy.
Prahlad Joshi has now taken charge as the new Union Education Minister after President Droupadi Murmu accepted Pradhan’s resignation.
Joshi said he would carry out his new responsibilities with complete humility and dedication.
Relief for Daily Commuters
With Metro stations fully operational and internet services restored, commuters across Delhi can now travel without the disruptions experienced over the past several days.
The reopening marks a return to normalcy after days of heightened security and restricted access in some of the capital’s busiest Metro stations.
