The Delhi government has extended its current Electric Vehicle (EV) policy until March 31, 2026, or until a new policy is officially announced.
This decision was taken during a cabinet meeting held at the Delhi Secretariat, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
The extension supports the goal of building a Green Delhi and gives the government more time for detailed discussions with all stakeholders to draft an improved EV policy.
Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh emphasized that the new policy will focus on including input from all citizens to make it inclusive, effective, and future-ready.
Goals of the Policy Extension
The main objectives of this EV policy extension are:
Strengthening the EV charging infrastructure in Delhi
Reviewing EV subsidies and incentives
Planning proper disposal of EV battery e-waste
The extension will give the Transport Department more time to hold in-depth consultations with stakeholders such as Delhi residents, industry experts, environmental groups, and private companies.
Moving Towards a Cleaner, Greener Delhi
The new policy is expected to introduce many new provisions to encourage the use of electric vehicles
and improve the charging network. It will also help address the serious issue of air pollution in the capital.
The Delhi government’s decision shows its strong commitment to a cleaner environment and an eco-friendly transport system.
This policy extension is a significant step toward building a sustainable and inclusive electric mobility future in Delhi.
