Delhi Airport Introduces Biometric Kiosks to Cut Immigration Time by 50%

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has launched biometric registration kiosks at the International Arrival Pier of Delhi Airport.

These kiosks are specifically for foreign nationals who did not provide biometric information during their visa application process.

The new system enables immediate biometric registration, significantly reducing immigration processing time by over 50%.

This initiative, managed by GMR Airports Infrastructure Limited, marks the first installation of such kiosks at any Indian airport.

Reduced Waiting Time at Immigration Counters

With these new kiosks, the average waiting time at immigration counters is expected to drop by more than half.

Previously, passengers holding visas without biometric registration had to go through designated immigration counters, resulting in an average wait of 4-5 minutes per passenger. During peak times, these queues often led to even longer delays.

Now, passengers arriving with e-visas can complete their biometric registration upon arrival and proceed to any immigration counter for further processing.

Expansion and Future Plans

Currently, there are five operational kiosks at the international arrival pier of Delhi Airport, with plans to install five more soon. Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO of DIAL, stated, “DIAL is committed to providing a world-class travel experience to its passengers.

The introduction of these biometric registration kiosks is one of the many achievements of Delhi Airport.

This is an important step towards speeding up the immigration process and enhancing passenger convenience, especially for those passengers who did not appear for their biometrics during the visa application process.”

This advancement aims to streamline the immigration process and improve the overall travel experience for passengers arriving at Delhi Airport.
