China has introduced an updated model of its high-speed bullet train. According to its makers, the train reached a speed of 450 kilometers per hour during testing, making it the fastest high-speed train in the world.
The new model, called the CR450 prototype, is expected to reduce travel time and improve connectivity, making travel more convenient and efficient for millions of passengers.
Faster and More Efficient than Previous Models
The CR450 prototype achieved a top testing speed of 450 kmph while maintaining consistent performance in energy use, noise levels, and braking distance, as reported by state-run Xinhua.
This speed is significantly faster than the CR400 Fuxing high-speed rail, which is currently in service and operates at 350 kmph.
China Railway plans to conduct a series of tests on the new prototype and optimize its technology to ensure it can begin commercial service as soon as possible.
Expanding China’s High-Speed Rail Network
China’s high-speed rail (HSR) network has grown rapidly, with operational tracks now stretching nearly 47,000 kilometers, connecting major cities across the country.
Despite this vast expansion, the network is not yet profitable. However, the government believes that HSR has greatly contributed to economic
and social development by reducing travel time and supporting industrial growth along railway routes.
Internal surveys show that the Beijing-Shanghai train service is the most profitable, while other city networks are still working to attract more passengers.
In recent years, China has expanded its high-speed rail technology to other countries, building networks in Thailand, Indonesia, and the Belgrade-Novi Sad HSR in Serbia.
