Whether it’s a Lok Sabha election, Assembly election, or local body poll, one thing is essential if you want to vote—your name must be on the voter list.

Many people believe that having a Voter ID card is enough. However, if your name is missing from the electoral roll, you may not be allowed to cast your vote on election day.

That is why the Election Commission regularly advises citizens to verify their voter details before every election.

Check Your Voter Status from Home

The good news is that you don’t need to visit any government office or stand in long queues.

The Election Commission offers online services and a mobile app that allow you to check your name in the voter list within minutes.

All you need is your smartphone and an internet connection.

How to Check Your Name in the Voter List

Step 1: Download the Voter Helpline App

Download the Voter Helpline App on your Android smartphone or iPhone.

Open the app and tap on the “Search Your Name in Electoral Roll” option available on the home screen.

Step 2: Enter Your Details

You can search for your voter details in two ways:

Using your EPIC number (Voter ID number)

Using your name, date of birth, and state

Enter the required information and tap the Search button.

Step 3: View Your Voter Information

If your name is listed in the voter roll, the app will show details such as:

Your name

Voter ID number

Polling station details

Other voter-related information

If your name is not found, you can use the same app to apply for voter registration or request corrections.

Fastest Method for Voter ID Holders

If you already have a Voter ID card, checking your status becomes even easier.

Simply select the “Search by EPIC Number” option in the Voter Helpline App and enter the number printed on your card.

The app also supports QR code and barcode scanning. Just scan the code on your Voter ID card using your phone’s camera to quickly access your voter details.

Why This 2-Minute Check Is Important

A Voter ID card alone does not guarantee that you can vote. Your name must also appear in the electoral roll.

Spending just two minutes checking your voter details now can save you from last-minute problems at the polling booth and ensure that you are ready to cast your vote when election day arrives.
