New Delhi:
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has announced changes in the rules for property tax payment, effective from July 1.
Payment Methods Revised
In response to instances of check bounce, MCD will discontinue accepting property tax payments via checks starting July 1.
Instead, digital payment methods such as UPI, wallets, demand drafts, pay orders, or any online payment medium will be accepted.
No More Cheque Payments
Starting July 1, the MCD will no longer accept property tax payments via cheque due to instances of cheque bouncing.
Instead, payments must be made digitally using methods such as UPI, wallet, demand draft, pay order, or any other online payment medium.
How to Pay Property Tax
Property owners and occupants of vacant lands and buildings are encouraged to pay their taxes for the year 2024-25 before June 30 to avail a 10% discount on lump sum payment.
Payments can be made through the corporation’s official website.
According to Section 114 of the Delhi Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Act, 2003,
all buildings and vacant lands under the jurisdiction of the Delhi Municipal Corporation are obligated to pay property tax.
Property owners can conveniently pay their taxes by visiting the corporation’s official website.
