Central Govt Salary to Arrive on September 25 for September 2026, as the government has allowed advance disbursement ahead of a proposed three-day nationwide bank strike from September 28 to 30.
The arrangement also covers eligible Central Government pensioners.
The decision has been taken because the strike is scheduled after the fourth Saturday on September 26 and Sunday, September 27.
The advance payment is intended to avoid disruption to salary and pension disbursements during the strike period.
Central Govt Salary to Arrive on September 25
According to an office memorandum issued by the Controller General of Accounts under the Ministry of Finance, September 2026 salaries and wages of Central Government employees may be drawn and disbursed on Friday, September 25.
The arrangement extends to Central Government industrial employees as well.
Central Government pensioners are also covered by the arrangement.
Their September 2026 pension may be paid on September 25 through the concerned banks and Pay and Accounts Offices.
The advance payment does not mean that every salaried employee in the country will receive September salary on September 25.
Private-sector employees and others outside the government order will continue to follow their employer’s normal payroll schedule.
Why Salary Is Being Paid Early
The advance disbursement is linked to the proposed nationwide bank strike scheduled for September 28, 29 and 30. Bank unions have called the strike over demands including implementation of a five-day banking week and other service-related issues.
The timing of the strike is significant because September 26 is the fourth Saturday, while September 27 is a Sunday.
This creates a period in which regular branch operations could be restricted before the three-day strike begins.
Banks to Open on September 27
As a separate arrangement, public sector banks and Regional Rural Banks are scheduled to operate on Sunday, September 27.
The Reserve Bank of India has approved the operation of bank branches, offices, ATM-linked branches and currency chests on that day.
The special Sunday operation is intended to provide customers with an additional opportunity to complete essential banking work before the proposed strike.
Customers may still want to check their individual bank’s advisory for services that could be affected.
What Private Employees Need to Know
Private-sector employees should not assume that their September salary will also be credited on September 25.
The government order specifically concerns Central Government employees, covered industrial employees and Central Government pensioners.
For employees of private companies, the actual salary credit date depends on the employer’s payroll schedule and banking arrangements.
The advance Central Government payment therefore should not be treated as a nationwide salary-payment rule.
