The Government of India has given a major boost to farmers by extending the PM Asha Yojana.
This scheme aims to control price fluctuations of essential commodities and ensure better prices for farmers.
The central government has decided to continue it until 2025-26, with an allocated budget of ₹35,000 crore.
Through this initiative, the government seeks to stabilize commodity prices, allowing farmers to get fair prices for their crops and produce.
The government has approved the purchase of pulses equivalent to the total production of states for the 2024-25 procurement year.
This move aims to ensure that farmers receive the full benefit of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) while maintaining price stability in the market.
With this decision, farmers can sell their crops to the government without concern and secure a fair price for their produce.
Arhar will be purchased in these states
The Ministry of Agriculture has approved the procurement of tur (arhar) in eight states for the Kharif season 2024-25.
These states include Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh.
A total of 13.22 lakh tonnes of tur will be purchased, benefiting 12,006 farmers.
The procurement process has already begun in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Maharashtra, with 15,000 tonnes purchased as of February 15.
Additionally, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has sanctioned the purchase of 13.22 lakh metric tonnes of tur in Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh.
This decision will provide significant benefits to farmers in these states.
Procurement Through Online Portals
The central government has raised the procurement budget for pulses, oilseeds, and copra to ₹45,000 crore, making it easier for farmers to sell their produce at MSP.
The agriculture department will carry out the procurement process through the e-Samriddhi and e-Samyukti portals.
