Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget for the financial year 2025-26, marking the first full budget of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third term.
In her budget speech, Sitharaman highlighted the focus on ‘Gyan’ (GYAN), which stands for the poor, youth, food providers, and women.
The budget emphasizes health, manufacturing, “Make in India,” employment, and innovation. It also outlines efforts in agriculture and exports, with the goal of making India a developed nation.
Key Announcements in Budget 2025
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made significant announcements in Budget 2025.
The budget includes a provision for women from the Scheduled Caste and Tribal categories, who are becoming entrepreneurs for the first time, to receive term loans of up to Rs 2 crore over the next 5 years.
Ideas from the Standup India Scheme will also be incorporated into this initiative.
Additionally, workshops will be held to teach business growth strategies online and help develop managerial skills.
Special Policy to Boost Entrepreneurship
In addition, the government will introduce a special policy to boost employment and entrepreneurship in labor-intensive sectors.
A focus product scheme will be launched to enhance quality, productivity, and competition in India’s footwear and leather industries.
This initiative is expected to create 22 lakh jobs, generate Rs 4 lakh crore in revenue, and drive exports exceeding Rs 1.1 lakh crore.
‘Dhanya Yojana’ for farmers
The government has announced the ‘Dhan Dhanya Yojana’ for farmers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the scheme, adding that the Kisan Credit Card limit has been increased to Rs 5 lakh.
The Finance Minister highlighted that this budget focuses on accelerating government development, empowering all sections, and boosting the middle class.
With the country nearing 25 years of the new century, the vision for a developed India continues to inspire progress.
Accelerating Balanced Growth Across Sectors
During the budget presentation, Nirmala Sitharaman stated, “India’s economy is the fastest-growing among major global economies.
The growth and structural reforms of the last 10 years have captured global attention. Over this time, confidence in India’s potential has grown.
We view the next 5 years as a unique opportunity to achieve ‘Sabka Vikas’ by speeding up balanced development across all sectors.”
State Participation in Building Adaptation
The Finance Minister stated, “Our development journey includes Make in India, employment, innovation, energy supply, sports development, and MSME growth, with reforms as its driving force.
This program is expected to benefit 1.7 crore farmers. We will initiate rural prosperity and adaptation projects in collaboration with the states. E
fforts to improve skills and investment will boost employment in agriculture, creating more opportunities in rural areas.
The focus will be on young farmers, rural women, and small farmers. The first phase will include 100 developing agricultural districts.”
