Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) customers in Bihar are facing a major change. The government telecom company is shutting down its 3G service in the state starting today.
This decision will affect millions of users. The company had already ended 3G service in some districts like Motihari, Katihar, Khagaria, and Munger.
From today, Patna and other districts will also be impacted. BSNL is making this move as part of its plan to introduce 4G services across the country.
Impact on 3G Users
BSNL’s decision will affect users who have 3G SIM cards. After the service is shut down, these users will only be able to make calls
and send SMS, but they will no longer have access to the internet. BSNL officials have stated that the 4G network has already been updated in the state, which is why the 3G service is being discontinued.
The company is also working on launching 5G services nationwide this year.
Free SIM Upgrade for Users
BSNL is offering a free SIM upgrade for users who want to continue using mobile data. Users with 3G SIMs can exchange them for 4G SIMs at no cost.
This upgraded SIM will also be ready for future 5G connectivity. Affected users can visit their nearest BSNL office with an identity card to get their new SIM.
In addition to Bihar, BSNL has already shut down its 3G service in several other states.
Increasing BSNL Customer Base
BSNL has seen an increase in its customer base recently. Many people are turning to BSNL due to the rising prices of plans offered by private telecom companies.
As private companies keep increasing their prices, more customers are choosing BSNL for its affordable services.
