BSNL Free Insurance is now available with two selected prepaid plans, giving customers accidental death and cyber fraud protection without any separate insurance premium.
The facility is currently offered with the ₹202 and ₹2449 recharge plans.
BSNL has partnered with The Oriental Insurance Company Limited (OICL) to provide this insurance benefit. The cover is linked to eligible recharges and the insurance details are sent to customers through SMS.
BSNL Free Insurance on Two Plans
BSNL has not added the insurance facility to all prepaid plans. At present, customers can get the benefit with the ₹202 and ₹2449 plans.
There is no need to pay an additional premium for the insurance cover. Customers only need to make an eligible recharge, after which the insurance benefit is activated as per the applicable terms.
Both plans provide accidental death cover of up to ₹1 lakh. They also include cyber fraud protection of up to ₹10,000 for eligible losses caused by online fraud.
Benefits of the ₹202 Plan
The ₹202 BSNL plan comes with a validity of 30 days. It offers 300 minutes of voice calling, 5GB of data and 100 SMS messages.
Along with these regular benefits, customers get accidental death insurance cover of up to ₹1 lakh and cyber fraud protection of up to ₹10,000.
This makes the ₹202 plan the lower-priced option among the two recharges currently covered under the insurance facility.
Benefits of the ₹2449 Plan
The ₹2449 plan is designed for customers who want longer validity and fewer recharges. It remains valid for 365 days, or one full year.
The plan provides unlimited local, STD and roaming voice calling. Customers also get 2GB of data and 100 SMS messages every day.
The insurance benefits remain the same, with accidental death cover of up to ₹1 lakh and cyber fraud protection of up to ₹10,000.
Cyber Fraud Cover Has a Condition
The cyber fraud protection included with both plans covers eligible losses linked to incidents such as online theft, phishing and email spoofing.
However, customers must meet an important condition to qualify for cyber fraud coverage. The BSNL mobile number used for the eligible recharge must be linked to the customer’s bank account.
Therefore, customers should check the applicable insurance terms and ensure that their BSNL number is linked with their bank account if they want to use the cyber fraud protection.
