Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a significant initiative to support cow herders and boost milk production in the state.
The government will launch the ‘Mini Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana,’ which aims to establish modern dairy units.
This program will improve both the quality and quantity of milk produced in Uttar Pradesh, with an investment of Rs 10.15 crore.
Improving Milk Production
The Mini Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana is designed to raise the national average of milk production per cow.
Although Uttar Pradesh is a major milk-producing state, it lags behind the national average in milk yield per animal.
Currently, the state produces an average of 3.78 liters of milk per cow, which is lower than the national average.
Under this scheme, high-tech dairy units will be established, each with a capacity for 10 cows.
Each unit will cost about Rs 23.60 lakh, with financial contributions from both the government and the beneficiaries.
Only high-quality native cow breeds, such as Gir, Tharparkar, and Sahiwal, known for their high milk production, will be selected.
The chosen breeds will be evaluated based on their production capacity to ensure increased milk output.
Infrastructure and Training
The scheme will also include the construction of cattle sheds and other necessary infrastructure using modern technology.
Puff panels will be installed to protect the cows from harsh weather, improving their health.
Additionally, cow keepers will receive modern training to help them manage and care for their animals effectively.
Eligible farmers with at least three years of experience in cow rearing will be selected for the program, ensuring that those who truly need assistance benefit the most.
Small and marginal farmers will directly gain from this initiative, learning scientific methods to increase production at lower costs.
This scheme goes beyond just raising milk production; it aims to create positive changes in rural communities.
Animal keepers will find new opportunities, helping them become economically strong and self-reliant.
