Good news is coming for all ration card holders across the country! The government is making significant changes to the ration distribution rules, which will come into effect in November 2024.
These changes aim to provide better and more balanced nutrition to beneficiaries. Ration card holders will benefit in five key ways.
New Ration Distribution Process
A major change has been made to the distribution of rice and wheat. Previously, citizens received 3 kg of rice and 2 kg of wheat.
From now on, they will receive 2.5 kg of rice and 2.5 kg of wheat. This new system aims to balance the distribution and ensure that beneficiaries receive better nutrition.
Changes for Antyodaya Card Holders
Antyodaya card holders will also see changes in their ration distribution. Previously, these beneficiaries received 14 kg of wheat and 30 kg of rice.
After the change, they will receive 18 kg of rice and 17 kg of wheat. This adjustment aims to make the distribution more balanced.
Mandatory e-KYC for Ration Card Holders
The government has made the e-KYC process mandatory for all ration card holders. If a citizen fails to complete this process by the deadline, they will no longer be eligible for ration.
This step is being taken to ensure that only those who truly need the ration benefit from the system.
Initially, the e-KYC deadline was set for September 1, but it has now been extended to December 31, 2024.
Special Arrangement in Uttar Pradesh
In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has extended the e-KYC deadline to provide relief to 3.5 crore ration card holders.
Citizens in the state can now complete the e-KYC process until December 31, 2024.
These new rules, including the balanced distribution of wheat and rice, will be applied across all states.
Important Information for Citizens
Ration card holders are advised to visit their nearest ration shop to gather information about the new rules.
Failure to complete the e-KYC process will result in not receiving the ration. It is crucial for citizens to complete this process on time.
Benefits of the New System
The main goal of these changes is to bring more transparency to the ration distribution system.
This will ensure that all beneficiaries receive equal amounts of ration, improving the nutritional quality of food available to them.
Government’s Aim
The government introduced these changes to ensure that the poor and needy families in the country receive proper and balanced rations.
This initiative aims to help millions of families access nutritious food, promoting better health for all.
