The Indian government has made it easier for foreign tourists to enter the country by expanding its e-Visa entry network.
A total of 11 new international entry points have been added, giving travelers more options to enter India with an e-Visa.
The biggest highlight is that Bhopal’s Raja Bhoj Airport is now among the approved e-Visa entry airports.
Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati Airport has also been included in the latest expansion.
Bhopal Airport Gets e-Visa Entry Status
Apart from the two airports, nine land ports, including Agartala, Attari Road, Gojadanga, and Moreh, have also been added to the e-Visa network.
With this update, India now has 88 e-Visa entry points, including 37 airports, 38 seaports, and 13 land ports.
At present, citizens from 172 countries can apply for an Indian e-Visa, and nearly 78% of all visas issued by India are now processed electronically.
What This Means for Bhopal
Earlier, foreign travelers visiting Madhya Pradesh had to land at major airports such as Delhi, Mumbai, or Hyderabad to complete immigration before taking another flight to Bhopal.
Now, eligible international travelers can complete the immigration process directly at Raja Bhoj Airport.
This strengthens Bhopal’s international connectivity and supports the government’s efforts to bring more global tourism and business opportunities to Tier-2 cities.
How Madhya Pradesh Will Benefit
The new e-Visa entry facility is expected to bring several benefits to the state.
Tourism boost: Foreign tourists will find it easier to visit popular attractions like the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Sanchi and Bhimbetka, helping increase tourism.
Better business opportunities: International investors, business delegates, and experts can now travel directly to Bhopal for investment summits and corporate meetings.
Support for the local economy: More international visitors are likely to benefit hotels, taxi services, tour guides, restaurants, and local handicraft businesses.
Less travel time: Foreign travelers will no longer need to complete immigration in metro cities before flying to Bhopal, saving both time and money.
Convenience for NRIs: People from Madhya Pradesh living abroad can now invite foreign friends and relatives directly to Bhopal without additional travel hassles.
Travelers should still check the official Indian e-Visa portal before planning their journey, as it may take some time for the updated list of entry points to appear on the website.
