Bharat Taxi launch in UP has introduced a cooperative-based ride-hailing service with zero commission for registered drivers and social security coverage of up to ₹5 lakh.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the service in Lucknow on September 23, 2026.
Bharat Taxi Launch in UP
Bharat Taxi is operated by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited and is already running in Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Prayagraj. According to the announcement, drivers joining the platform will not have to pay a commission on rides.
The service is being positioned as a cooperative alternative to conventional app-based ride-hailing platforms. Drivers can become members of the cooperative model and participate as stakeholders.
The state government has also announced social security coverage of up to ₹5 lakh for registered drivers. The initiative covers taxi, three-wheeler and two-wheeler drivers, according to reports on the launch.
Bharat Taxi Agreements With Airport and Metro
During the launch programme, agreements involving Bharat Taxi and Lucknow Airport, Lucknow Metro and Lucknow Police were announced. The initiative is intended to expand the service and create additional opportunities for drivers.
The Uttar Pradesh government has also highlighted the cooperative model as a way to give drivers a greater role in the platform. The service is being presented as an alternative rather than a replacement for existing private ride-hailing services.
Farmer Loan Interest Rate Cut to 6 Percent
Along with Bharat Taxi, the Chief Minister launched the Mukhyamantri Krishak Samriddhi Yojana. Under the scheme, the interest rate on eligible long-term agricultural loans through the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Rural Development Bank has been reduced from 11 percent to 6 percent.
The scheme is aimed at providing long-term loan facilities to around five lakh small and marginal farmers over the coming years. Loan sanction letters were also handed over to beneficiaries during the launch event.
Other Cooperative Initiatives Launched
The event also saw the launch of the e-portal for the Mukhyamantri Krishak Samriddhi Yojana, the Urvarak Setu mobile application of the Cooperation Department and the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Database Centre mobile application.
Share certificates were presented to five Bharat Taxi drivers, while five beneficiaries of the farmer scheme received loan approval letters during the programme.
The two initiatives focus on different groups, with Bharat Taxi targeting driver participation and social security, while the Krishak Samriddhi Yojana aims to make eligible long-term agricultural credit available to small and marginal farmers at a lower interest rate.
