With fuel prices staying high, many people are looking for ways to reduce their petrol and diesel expenses. One popular option is an IndianOil co-branded credit card.

You may have seen claims that these cards can help you save up to 8.5% on fuel purchases. The good news is that this claim is true—but only one card offers the full 8.5% benefit.

Let’s see how the savings work and which card is the best for you.

How Does the 8.5% Fuel Saving Work?

Among the three major IndianOil co-branded cards, the RBL Bank IndianOil XTRA Credit Card offers the highest savings.

Here’s how the total 8.5% benefit is calculated:

7.5% Fuel Value Back: You earn 15 fuel points for every ₹100 spent at IndianOil outlets. Since each fuel point is worth ₹0.50, you get a 7.5% value back.

1% Fuel Surcharge Waiver: The usual 1% fuel surcharge is waived, taking your total savings to 8.5%.

However, there is a monthly limit. You can earn up to 2,000 fuel points (worth ₹1,000) every month. To get the maximum benefit, your monthly fuel spending should be around ₹13,400.

HDFC vs Axis vs RBL: Which Card Offers More?

HDFC Bank IndianOil Credit Card

This card is a good choice if your monthly fuel expenses are around ₹3,000.

It works on the RuPay network, so you can link it with Google Pay, PhonePe, or Paytm and make UPI payments.

It also offers 5% benefits on grocery and utility bill payments, making it useful for everyday spending.

Axis Bank IndianOil Credit Card

The Axis card offers up to 5% fuel savings with a monthly reward limit of ₹200.

Like the HDFC card, it is available on the RuPay network for UPI payments. It also gives 15% discounts on BookMyShow movie tickets and dining offers, making it attractive for users who spend on entertainment.

RBL Bank IndianOil XTRA Credit Card

The biggest advantage of this card is its 8.5% fuel savings, which is among the highest offered by any fuel credit card in India.

The card has an annual fee of ₹1,500 plus GST. However, this fee is waived if you spend ₹2.75 lakh or more in a year.

Which IndianOil Credit Card Should You Choose?

If your monthly fuel expenses are between ₹8,000 and ₹13,000, the RBL Bank IndianOil XTRA Credit Card offers the best value. The higher fuel rewards can easily cover the annual fee if you use the card regularly.

If your fuel expenses are lower and you also want the convenience of UPI payments, the HDFC Bank IndianOil Credit Card or Axis Bank IndianOil Credit Card may be a better choice.

Both cards have lower annual fees and offer additional benefits beyond fuel savings.
