Bank Holidays November 2023: Banks will remain closed for 15 days in November

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has unveiled the list of bank holidays for November 2023, and it reveals that banks across various states and union territories will observe a total of 15 days of closure in the upcoming month.

These closures are attributed to the celebration of several festivals and the routine weekend breaks.

Despite the holidays, customers will have the convenience of conducting their financial transactions through online banking and ATMs.

Additionally, in accordance with RBI directives, both public and private sector banks will be closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of November.

Alongside the usual Saturday and Sunday breaks, banks nationwide will be shut on national holidays such as Diwali, as well as local festivals during the month.

November 1 (Wednesday): Kannada Rajyotsava/Karva Chauth – Banks closed in Karnataka, Manipur, Himachal Pradesh.

November 10 (Friday): Wangala Festival – Bank closed in Meghalaya.

November 12 (Sunday): Diwali Celebrations – Banks nationwide remain closed.

November 13 (Monday): Govardhan Puja/Lakshmi Puja (Diwali)/Diwali – Banks closed in Tripura, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Manipur, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra.

November 14 (Tuesday): Diwali (Bali Pratipada)/Deepawali/Vikram Sawant New Year Day/Lakshmi Puja – Banks closed in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Sikkim.

November 15 (Wednesday): Bhaidooj / Chitragupta Jayanti / Lakshmi Puja (Diwali) / Ningol Chakkouba / Bhratridwitiya – Banks closed in Sikkim, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, and Himachal Pradesh.

November 20 (Monday): Chhath (Morning Arghya) – Banks closed in Bihar.

November 23 (Tuesday): Seng Kutsnem/Egas-Bagwal – Banks closed in Uttarakhand and Sikkim.

November 27 (Monday): Guru Nanak Jayanti/Kartik Purnima/Rhasa Purnima – Banks closed in multiple states including Tripura, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Rajasthan, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, Maharashtra, New Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Himachal Pradesh.

November 30 (Thursday): Kanakadasa Jayanti – Bank closed in Karnataka.

In addition to the festival-related closures, November will see banks observing the second and fourth Saturdays as mandated by the RBI.

This, along with the standard weekend holidays, adds up to a total of 15 bank holidays throughout the month.

While customers can expect banking branches to be closed during these days, they can continue to perform essential transactions through online banking and ATMs.
