Bank Holiday Next Week will include two consecutive days when bank branches across India will remain closed.

Customers planning branch visits should note October 10 and October 11 before scheduling cash, documentation or other in-person banking work.

There will be no nationwide bank holiday from Monday, October 5 to Friday, October 9.

Banks are expected to operate normally during these five days, subject to any state-specific holiday.

Bank Holiday Next Week falls on October 10

Banks across India will remain closed on Saturday, October 10, as it is the second Saturday of the month.

In addition, banks in Bengaluru and Kolkata will observe a holiday for Mahalaya Amavasya on the same day.

The following day, Sunday, October 11, is also a regular weekly bank holiday.

This will result in two consecutive days without normal physical branch services.

Customers who need to complete branch-related work can therefore use the October 5 to October 9 working window to visit their bank before the weekend closure.

Why banks will remain closed for 2 days

The October 10 closure is part of the regular banking rule under which branches remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month.

Sundays are also regular weekly holidays for bank branches.

However, bank holidays do not generally stop digital banking services.

Customers can continue to use services such as internet banking, mobile banking and UPI for many routine transactions, although services requiring a physical branch visit may not be available.

Check your state-wise bank holiday list

Bank holidays can vary depending on the state and banking centre because regional festivals and local holidays are included in the RBI holiday calendar.

Customers should therefore check the applicable holiday for their particular branch before visiting.

The October calendar includes several state-specific closures later in the month.

October 19 and October 20, for example, will see bank holidays in numerous states for festivals including Durga Puja, Maha Navami and Dussehra.

For customers planning important banking work, checking the holiday applicable to their branch in advance can help avoid an unnecessary visit.
