Austria Working Holiday Visa Eligibility
The programme is available to Indian citizens between 18 and 30 years of age.
Applicants must have a valid Indian passport, which should remain valid for at least three months after the planned end of the visa.
The visa is different from Austria’s regular employment-based routes. Participants can take temporary employment during their stay without obtaining a separate employment authorisation under the Working Holiday programme.
No Job Offer Needed Before Travel
A major feature of the programme is that applicants do not have to secure an Austrian job offer before applying.
Once in Austria under the programme, participants can take temporary work to help cover their expenses.
This should not be confused with Austria’s separate Job Seeker Visa, which is a different route specifically available to people who meet the criteria for Very Highly Qualified Workers.
Documents and Financial Requirements
Applicants need to complete the Visa D application form and provide a biometric passport photograph.
They must also have health, accident and travel insurance covering their entire stay, with minimum coverage of €30,000.
Applicants must demonstrate that they have sufficient funds to support themselves during the initial period in Austria.
They also need a return ticket or enough money to purchase one.
Visa Fee and Application Process
The Austria Working Holiday Visa costs €195 for stays exceeding 90 days, which is approximately Rs 22,000 based on the figure reported for the programme.
Indian applicants must submit their applications in person at the Austrian Embassy in New Delhi.
The Austrian Embassy in New Delhi states that applications for residence permits exceeding six months and visas connected with programmes offering work opportunities have to be submitted in person.
