In today’s smartphone-driven world, while these devices have made life easier, they have also introduced new challenges, particularly with the rise of spam calls.
Many users receive unsolicited calls selling credit cards, personal loans, and various other services, often leading to frustration during important tasks. These unwanted calls are classified as spam calls in telecommunications.
Airtel’s AI-Based Solution for Spam Calls
Airtel has announced a significant update aimed at addressing this issue for its users. The company has developed a new AI-based solution designed to help identify spam calls more effectively.
During a press conference, Bharti Airtel’s MD and CEO, Gopal Vittal, shared that this service will go live tonight.
Features of the AI Spam Call Solution
Real-Time Alerts: The new AI system will provide real-time alerts for incoming calls that are unknown. Any unidentified call will be flagged as suspected spam.
No App Required: Airtel users will not need to install any additional applications or pay any charges to access this service.
Future Blocking: Currently, the system will identify calls as suspected spam without blocking them. However, there are plans to implement call blocking in the future.
Collaboration with Other Telecom Operators: Airtel is in discussions with other telecom companies to differentiate between spam calls and legitimate service calls from businesses like Swiggy and Zomato, making it easier for users to identify genuine calls.
Availability: This new feature will be accessible on smartphones, with upgrades planned for feature phones.
Mechanism for Error Correction: If a number is mistakenly categorized as spam, a mechanism will soon be available to rectify this error.
