Air India announced on Wednesday that following its merger with Vistara next month, all flights operated by Vistara will begin with the flight number format ‘AI2’.
The Tata Group-owned airline assures passengers that the service experience associated with Vistara will remain unchanged despite the merger.
This significant merger, set to take place on November 12, marks a major development in the Indian aviation sector, following the earlier merger of AIX Connect with Air India Express.
Continued Services for Passengers
Passengers have expressed concerns about whether Vistara’s renowned services will continue post-merger, especially considering Air India’s ongoing transformation, which has faced some service-related challenges recently.
An Air India spokesperson addressed these concerns, stating that the teams from both Air India and Vistara have been collaborating for over a year to ensure a smooth transition for customers and employees.
The spokesperson emphasized, “Although the legal entities and air operating certificates will merge on November 12, the Vistara experience will continue.
Vistara aircraft, crew, and services will operate as they do now, but all AI2XXX flight numbers will be bookable through airindia.com.”
What Passengers Should Keep in Mind When Booking
As passengers prepare for the merger, it’s essential to remember the following:
Flight Number Format: Vistara flights will change to ‘AI2’ flight numbers, so be sure to check your bookings.
Booking Process: Ensure you book your flights through the official Air India website for any flights that are part of the merger.
Service Continuity: Rest assured that the high standards of service that Vistara is known for will remain intact even after the merger.
Passengers can look forward to a seamless travel experience as Air India and Vistara combine their operations.
