Air India has introduced a new AI-powered mobile app designed to make air travel easier and more convenient.

Developed by the airline’s in-house digital team, the app brings together services like ticket booking, payments, baggage tracking, and travel planning in one place.

One of the biggest highlights of the new app is that many important features will continue to work even without an internet connection.

Passengers will be able to check their trips, flight status, baggage details, and food menu in offline mode. The app also supports Apple AirTag and Google-enabled trackers to help travelers keep track of their luggage.

AI-powered features to simplify your journey

The new app uses Generative AI to create a complete travel plan with just a few words. It also includes AI-based tools that make booking flights and getting travel assistance much easier.

Air India’s AI-powered virtual assistant, AI.g, has already answered more than 26 million passenger queries.

Another feature, EZ Booking, allows users to generate an entire travel plan simply by entering a few words.

Ticket booking, payments, and travel assistance

Air India says the updated app now offers almost every travel-related service in one place. Passengers can use it for:

Searching and booking flights more quickly

Adding extra services such as preferred seats and meals

Making payments through the airline’s new in-house payment platform

Accessing special offers while making payments

If a flight is delayed or cancelled, passengers can also get immediate assistance directly from the app’s home screen.

Information about hotels, local transportation, and other support services will be available without having to search elsewhere.

Improved flight tracking and My Trips section

The airline has also upgraded several existing features.

The personalized home screen displays upcoming trips, boarding passes, special offers, and travel suggestions.

The Real-Time Flight Status feature, which is used more than 1.4 million times every month, now provides live updates about the flight as well as the aircraft operating it.

The My Trips section allows passengers to:

Change their seats

Modify their tickets

Select meals

Manage their journey without contacting customer care

Better baggage tracking with Apple AirTag and Google support

Air India’s baggage tracking feature, used more than 2 lakh times every month, has also been upgraded.

Passengers can now track their luggage throughout the journey. The app also supports Apple AirTag and Google-enabled trackers, making it easier to locate baggage if it is delayed or misplaced.

Important features will work even without the internet

One of the standout features of the new app is its offline mode.

Even without an internet connection, passengers will be able to access:

My Trips

Flight Status

Baggage Tracking

Food & Beverage Menu

This ensures travelers can still access essential travel information during network issues, flight delays, or emergencies.

Other new features

The updated Air India app also includes several additional improvements:

AEye Vision technology lets users access travel details without manually entering information.

Timely notifications such as “Boarding Will Begin Shortly” help passengers stay informed.

Managing the Maharaja Club loyalty program has become simpler and more convenient.

With these AI-powered features, offline access, and improved travel tools, Air India aims to provide passengers with a smoother and more connected travel experience from booking to arrival.
