Air India Express to provide Full Refunds for Cancelled Flights

New Delhi: Air India Express, owned by Tata Group, will provide passengers with a choice of a full refund or complimentary rescheduling.

This decision comes after the airline had to cancel multiple flights due to a “crew shortage.”

Some crew members called in sick on Wednesday, leading the airline to cancel over 80 flights.

This was in protest against what they believe is mismanagement by the carrier.

Staff members of the airline have been feeling increasingly unhappy since the merger with AIX Connect, previously known as AirAsia India, took place.

During the summer schedule, which began in the last week of March, the airline plans to operate 360 flights daily.

Reports indicate that more than 200 crew members have reportedly fallen ill.

An Air India spokesperson confirmed that a group of cabin crew members called in sick suddenly on the night of May 7.

This caused delays or cancellations in flight operations.

The company mentioned they are talking with the crew to understand why they took sick leave.

They also stated that affected passengers will be given the choice of a full refund or complimentary rescheduling.

On May 8, many passengers went on social media to express their frustration about the unexpected flight cancellations.

Air India Express responded to a passenger’s post on X by apologizing and explaining that the flight was canceled “due to operational reasons.”

“In our effort to resolve this issue, you have the option to reschedule your flight within the next 7 days or request a full refund through our chat bot Tia,” the airline stated in a post on X.
