The rules outlined in the Citizenship (Amendment) Act have been implemented in India as of March 11.
In line with this, the Union Home Ministry introduced the CAA Portal, a web platform facilitating citizenship applications.
Building upon this initiative, the Union Home Ministry has now launched the ‘CAA 2019’ mobile app, enabling individuals to apply for Indian citizenship under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA)-2019 directly from their smartphones.
This app is available for download on the Google Play Store.
Who Can Apply?
The CAA mobile app allows only minority Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and Christians from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh to apply for Indian citizenship.
Eligibility is restricted to those minority individuals who arrived in India before December 31, 2014.
How to Apply for Citizenship

- Navigate to the online services section and locate the link for citizenship application under CAA. Click on it to proceed.
- A new page or interface will open, prompting you to log in. You can use your phone number or email ID for this purpose.
Application Cost
To initiate the citizenship application process, download the app from Indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in and fill out the online form.
A nominal online payment of Rs 50 is required. Upon submission, you will receive an electronic acknowledgment.
It’s imperative for applicants to provide a valid email ID and mobile number during the application process.
