Bareilly Post Office services have changed significantly with time. From traditional letter and money order delivery, the postal department now provides Speed Post, banking, insurance and Aadhaar-related services.
New Postal Services
Earlier, people mainly used post offices to send letters and money orders. Registered mail and Speed Post were later introduced as the department expanded its services.
Speed Post now offers OTP-based delivery and proof of delivery. Customers can pay an additional ₹10 for the proof-of-delivery facility, which provides confirmation that the article has reached its intended destination.
The postal department is also expanding beyond traditional mail services. Banking facilities, Postal Life Insurance and Aadhaar-related services are now available through post offices, making them useful for a wider range of everyday needs.
Bareilly Post Office Network
The Bareilly main post office covers Bareilly and Pilibhit districts. The network includes 65 post offices, comprising 63 sub-post offices and two main post offices, along with 381 branch offices.
A large number of people visit the main post office every day for postal and financial services. Senior Postmaster Arun Kumar said the department is no longer restricted to traditional letter-related work.
Focus on Digital Services
According to SRM Bareilly Manoj Kumar, the main post office building is old, but the services offered by the postal department have evolved.
The department is now giving greater attention to digital payments and other modern services. In metro cities, 24-hour mail delivery has also been introduced.
The changes show how post offices are expanding their role from traditional mail delivery to a broader range of digital, financial and citizen-focused services.
