October 1 rules changes have brought several updates for consumers, businesses and bank customers.

From commercial LPG prices and fixed deposit rules to vehicle prices and LPG subsidy requirements, these changes can affect household and business expenses from October 1, 2026.

Here are the key changes that consumers should know about as the new month begins.

October 1 Rules Change for LPG Prices

The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has increased from October 1. In Delhi, the price has risen by ₹62.50, taking the cylinder cost to ₹2,810 from ₹2,747.50 in September. Domestic 14.2-kg LPG cylinder prices remain unchanged.

The increase mainly affects hotels, restaurants, caterers and other businesses that use commercial LPG for cooking. The revision comes ahead of the festive season when demand from such businesses generally rises.

New Fixed Deposit Rules From October

New RBI rules for bulk fixed deposits have also taken effect from October 1. Banks are required to disclose bulk deposit interest rates daily by 10 am and apply the same rate for the same deposit amount across their branches on a given day.

The revised framework is aimed at making bulk deposit pricing more transparent. The rules also cover certain NRI rupee deposits, subject to the applicable provisions.

Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles Get Costlier

Tata Motors has increased prices of its commercial vehicles by up to 1% from October 1, 2026. The company said the price revision is linked to higher commodity and other input costs.

The exact increase varies by model and variant, so customers buying a Tata commercial vehicle will need to check the revised price applicable to their selected vehicle.

LPG Subsidy Requires Aadhaar Authentication

Biometric Aadhaar Authentication has become an important requirement from October 1 for domestic LPG consumers seeking refills at the regulated retail selling price with applicable subsidy. Consumers who have already completed the authentication do not need to repeat it.

Consumers who have not completed authentication can do so during delivery, at their LPG distributor’s showroom or through the mobile app of their respective oil marketing company.

Those who do not wish to complete the authentication can still receive LPG, but the government says they will receive it at the applicable market price without subsidy, subject to the specified conditions and cylinder availability.

SBI ATM Transaction Charges

SBI customers should also check the ATM transaction charges applicable to their account type and usage. Charges can apply when customers exceed the prescribed number of free ATM transactions, depending on the account and transaction category.

Customers who frequently withdraw cash or carry out non-financial ATM transactions should check the latest SBI schedule of charges before making additional transactions.

Electronics Prices May Rise

Some electronics companies have revised product prices around the beginning of the festive shopping season. The impact can vary by company, product

and model, so customers should compare the current price before purchasing televisions, air conditioners and other electronic items.

The changes from October 1 therefore cover different areas, including commercial LPG, banking, vehicle prices and LPG subsidy requirements. Consumers should check the specific rules and prices applicable to their product, account or service.
