Diwali Dussehra special trains will add 102 trips on several routes to meet the expected rise in passenger demand during the festive season.
Booking for these additional services started on September 27, giving passengers more options for travel around Dussehra and Diwali.
The special services are being operated on routes passing through the Solapur Division and will connect several major destinations, including Mumbai, Chennai, Latur, Kolhapur and Kalaburagi.
Diwali Dussehra Special Trains Add 102 Trips
The additional services have been planned as passenger movement increases during the festival period. Many people travel to their hometowns or meet family members during Dussehra and Diwali, leading to higher demand for railway tickets.
Among the announced services is a weekly special between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai and Chennai.
The Mumbai-Chennai service will operate six trips, with the Mumbai departure scheduled every Wednesday from October 14 to November 18.
The train will leave Mumbai at 12:35 am and reach Chennai at 11:30 pm on the same day.
On the return journey, the Chennai-Mumbai special will run from October 15 to November 19, departing Chennai at 4 am every Thursday and reaching Mumbai at 4 am the following day.
The service will halt at several important stations, including Dadar, Thane, Kalyan, Lonavala, Pune, Daund, Solapur, Kalaburagi, Wadi, Raichur, Guntakal, Renigunta, Arakkonam and Perambur.
Mumbai-Latur Festival Special Services
A special service between Mumbai and Latur has also been announced for the festive period.
The Mumbai-Latur train will run twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from October 13 to November 24.
The train will depart CSMT Mumbai at 12:35 am and reach Latur at 11:40 am on the same day.
The return service will leave Latur at 4:30 pm and arrive at CSMT Mumbai at 4:10 am the next day.
The route includes stops such as Dadar, Thane, Kalyan, Lonavala, Pune, Daund, Kurduvadi, Barshi Town, Dharashiv and Harangul.
Kolhapur-Kalaburagi Gets 64 Trips
Another major part of the festive timetable is the Kolhapur-Kalaburagi special train service. It will operate from October 10 to November 15, running every day except Friday.
The Kolhapur-Kalaburagi service will make 32 trips in one direction, while the return service will also make 32 trips.
Together, the route will account for 64 trips, making it the largest component of the announced services.
The train will leave Kolhapur at 6:10 am and reach Kalaburagi at 4:10 pm. The return train will depart Kalaburagi at 6:10 pm and reach Kolhapur at 5:40 am the following day.
