Commercial LPG cylinder prices have become a talking point in parts of rural Uttar Pradesh, where some gas agencies are reportedly selling 19 kg cylinders for less than the official rate.
Customers in some areas of Kushinagar are getting discounts of around ₹200 to ₹600.
The lower prices are not due to an official nationwide price cut by oil marketing companies. The discount is reportedly being offered by some distributors because of lower local demand and excess stock.
Commercial LPG Cylinder Discount in Kushinagar
According to the report, the official price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder in Kushinagar is around ₹2,946. However, some customers are reportedly getting the cylinder for approximately ₹2,400 to ₹2,700.
This means the difference can be around ₹200 to ₹600 per cylinder, depending on the distributor and local selling price.
The trend is mainly being seen in rural areas and smaller markets, where demand for commercial LPG cylinders can be lower than in larger markets.
Why Are Commercial LPG Cylinders Being Sold Cheaper
The reported discount has not been announced by oil marketing companies as a change in the official commercial LPG price.
A 19 kg commercial cylinder is mainly used by restaurants, hotels, food stalls, sweet shops and catering businesses. In some smaller markets, lower demand has reportedly resulted in distributors having surplus stock.
Some agencies are therefore offering discounts to clear their available stock. The actual selling price can vary between distributors and locations.
No Change in Domestic LPG Cylinder Price
There has been no reported change in the price of the 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder used by households.
The current domestic cylinder prices are ₹944 in Delhi, ₹941.50 in Mumbai, ₹968.50 in Kolkata and ₹947.50 in Chennai.
The official price of the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi is currently ₹2,747.50. The discounts being reported in parts of Uttar Pradesh should therefore not be considered a nationwide reduction in commercial LPG prices.

Businesses that regularly use commercial LPG can check with their local authorised distributor to find out whether any discount is available.
The reported benefit is currently linked to specific areas and distributors rather than a uniform price reduction across the country. Customers should also verify the applicable price and billing details before purchasing a cylinder.
