Shivpuri High-Tech Post Office has been transformed with modern facilities, more service counters and a token-based system to make postal services faster and more convenient for customers.
The upgraded post office has been developed at a cost of ₹30 lakh.
Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurated the state-of-the-art main post office in Shivpuri along with modern post offices in Guna and Gwalior.
Shivpuri High-Tech Post Office to Become a Model
The renovated post office has been included in the modernization plans of the Ministry of Communications.
According to Post Office Superintendent Vishnupal Singh Yadav, similar hi-tech post offices will be developed in around 40 locations across the country on the Shivpuri model.
The upgraded building has been redesigned to provide more counters and better facilities for customers. The aim is to reduce waiting time and allow people to complete their postal and related services more quickly.
Token System Will Reduce Long Queues
One of the key changes at the Shivpuri High-Tech Post Office is the introduction of a token system. Customers will receive a token after entering the post office instead of having to stand in a long queue at the service counter.
A modern waiting area has also been created for customers. Their token number will be displayed on an LED screen when their turn arrives, allowing them to approach the relevant counter for service.
Customers who attended the inauguration welcomed the changes. Dilip Dhakad said the improved cleanliness, additional counters and token system would make visiting the post office more convenient.
Another customer, Alam Singh, said that limited counters earlier resulted in long waiting times. He noted that the additional counters, LED displays and other modern facilities are expected to make the process quicker.
Number of Service Counters Increased to 12
The number of service counters at the main post office has been increased from six to 12. Separate counters and chambers have been arranged to handle different postal and financial services.
The 12 counters include three for India Post Payments Bank services, four for savings bank services, two for money order and postal services, one for Aadhaar services and two help desks.
The expanded arrangement is expected to help manage customers more efficiently while reducing congestion inside the post office.
Postal Training Centre Also Inaugurated
Along with the renovated post office, Shivpuri has also received the country’s seventh Postal Training Centre. The centre is expected to support training and development related to postal services and resources.
The modernization is not limited to functional facilities. The interior of the post office has also been given a local historical touch.
A wall behind the 12 counters features the life of freedom fighter Tatya Tope along with a ₹50 postage stamp issued in his honour.
Images representing Shivpuri’s heritage and natural attractions, including the Chhatris, Narwar Fort and Surwaya Garhi, have also been incorporated into the design.
The new facilities are intended to provide customers with a more organized experience while strengthening postal services in Shivpuri. The model is also expected to serve as a reference for modernization of post offices in other parts of the country.
