Venezuela 90-Day Visa allows eligible foreign professionals to stay in the country for up to 90 days for temporary specialised work without taking up formal employment with a Venezuelan company.
The new electronic PRO-V-90 visa is a multiple-entry category for approved professional activities.
The visa is intended for independent professionals and specialists sent by companies based outside Venezuela to provide services to clients in the country.
The move could also be relevant to Indian professionals travelling for short-term assignments.
Venezuela 90-Day Visa for Professionals
The PRO-V-90 covers activities such as technical assistance, operational support, speaking engagements, journalistic work and investment oversight, among other specialised professional services.
A key condition is that the foreign professional must not have an employment relationship with the Venezuelan company inviting them.
The Venezuelan entity also cannot pay the professional employment-related compensation or remuneration.
For example, an employee of an Indian company could potentially travel to Venezuela to provide technical assistance to a Venezuelan client if the assignment and employment arrangement meet the visa requirements.
What Indian Professionals Should Know
The new visa may be relevant to Indian consultants, specialists and employees of companies based in India who need to undertake temporary professional assignments in Venezuela.
However, it does not automatically replace other Venezuelan work or employment visa categories.
Professionals who are employed by companies in their home country need to assess whether their specific assignment qualifies for the PRO-V-90.
The nature of the work and the relationship with the Venezuelan client are important factors.
The authorised stay is limited to 90 days. Once that period ends, the foreign national must leave Venezuela, and another visa would be required for a subsequent visit if applicable.
Online Application Process
The PRO-V-90 application can be submitted electronically through Venezuela’s Cancillería Digital platform, operated by the country’s Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs.
According to immigration firm Fragomen, processing is expected to take around two to 10 business days.
Approved applicants receive the authorisation by email and do not need to visit a Venezuelan consulate to collect a physical visa stamp.
The electronic approval can be printed by the applicant.
Documents Required for PRO-V-90
Applicants need supporting documents for the electronic visa application.
These include a passport valid for at least six months, a passport-style photograph, proof of financial solvency, a request letter from the company and company registration documents.
A police-clearance certificate may also be required where applicable.
Applicants should check the latest official requirements before submitting their application because visa conditions and documentation requirements can change.
The Venezuela 90-Day Visa is specifically intended for temporary professional services and should not be treated as a general route to employment or long-term residence in the country.
