The National Law School of India University has invited applications for 10 Graduate Research Fellowship positions for the January 2027 intake.
NLSIU Graduate Research Fellowship Details
The fellowship is designed for recent graduates and young scholars who want to strengthen their research skills in law, social sciences and public policy.
The programme is based at the NLSIU campus in Bengaluru, and fellows are expected to work on campus.
The Graduate Research Fellowship has a minimum duration of six months and can continue for up to two years. Work experience after qualification is not mandatory for applicants.
Who Can Apply for NLSIU Fellowship
Candidates with a graduate degree in law or a postgraduate degree in social sciences, public policy or allied disciplines can apply.
Students currently pursuing a qualifying degree may also apply, provided they complete the degree before joining the fellowship.
Candidates pursuing a doctoral degree are not eligible for the Graduate Research Fellowship. Up to 10 fellows will be supported at any given time during the academic year.
Research Work and Responsibilities
Selected fellows may assist NLSIU research centres, chairs and projects through desk research, literature reviews, research proposals and grant-related work.
They may also help organise workshops, conferences and seminars and write commentaries, briefs and articles under faculty supervision.
Fellows will also receive opportunities for mentorship and participation in NLSIU’s academic and research activities.
They are expected to publish at least one solo written work, such as a policy brief, blog or research article, during the fellowship or each year of a longer fellowship.
NLSIU Fellowship Application Deadline
Applications for the January 2027 intake must be submitted by October 30, 2026, at 5 pm IST.
The university has invited applications for multiple research fellowships, with the Graduate Research Fellowship offering starting monthly remuneration of ₹50,000.
