Railways to Run 102 Special Trains during the upcoming Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath Puja season to handle the expected rise in passenger demand.
The services will operate across several major routes during October and November.
The special services will connect major cities with destinations in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Railways is also adding coaches to several existing trains to increase available seats.
Railways to Run 102 Special Trains
Among the announced services are trains connecting Kanpur with Asarva, Agra Cantt with Udhna, Prayagraj with Udhna and VGL Jhansi with Bandra Terminus.
Several additional services will also connect Uttar Pradesh and other regions with Maharashtra and Gujarat.
Passengers travelling between Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal will also have additional options.
Services include routes such as Prayagraj-Shakur Basti, Narayanpur Bazar-Shakur Basti, Howrah-Raxaul, Sealdah-Patna and Sealdah-Sitamarhi.
More Trains for Bihar and Northeast Routes
For Bihar and West Bengal travel, Railways has announced additional services including Sealdah-Gorakhpur, Kolkata-Madhubani, Asansol-Patna and Anand Vihar Terminal-Jogbani. Some services will operate several times a week, while others will run on specific schedules.
Additional trains are also planned for passengers travelling towards Assam and the Northeast.
These include Howrah-Lumding, Kolkata-New Jalpaiguri, Santragachi-Naharlagun and Kanpur Central-Guwahati services.
Extra Services for Southern Routes
The festive arrangements also cover southern destinations. Additional services include Visakhapatnam-SMVT Bengaluru, Shalimar-Charlapalli, Secunderabad-Sirpur Kaghaznagar, Hyderabad-Mangaluru Central and Kanpur Central-SMVT Bengaluru.
Some existing trains will also receive additional coaches to increase capacity. For example, selected services will get extra AC Chair Car, Chair Car or LHB coaches during the festive travel period.
The additional services are intended to provide more travel options during one of the busiest periods of the railway calendar.
