If you frequently travel abroad, waiting in a long immigration queue at the airport can be frustrating.
The Fast-Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) is designed to make this process quicker.
Eligible registered travellers can use biometric e-gates instead of going through the regular immigration counter.
The government says immigration clearance through these e-gates can be completed in under 30 seconds for eligible passengers.
Goa is also set to join the network after the Centre approved activation of the facility there.
Which Airports Offer FTI-TTP?
The FTI-TTP facility is currently available at 13 Indian airports:
Delhi
Mumbai
Ahmedabad
Kolkata
Chennai
Bengaluru
Hyderabad
Cochin
Lucknow
Amritsar
Calicut
Trivandrum
Trichy
Goa has also been approved for activation under the programme.
The e-gates can be used for both international arrivals and departures at participating airports.
Who Can Use the Fast-Track Facility?
FTI-TTP is available to:
Indian citizens
Foreign nationals who hold an OCI card
There is no registration fee for the programme.
However, not everyone can enrol. Travellers holding an ECR passport are not eligible.
Children below 7 years cannot register. For children aged 7 to 18, a parent or guardian’s email address and mobile number can be used during registration.
How to Register for FTI-TTP?
You cannot simply reach the airport and start using the biometric e-gates. Registration is required first.
Applicants need to verify their identity through mobile OTP and email verification.
You will also need to upload a recent passport-size photograph and scanned copies of the required passport pages. OCI cardholders must provide the relevant OCI documents.
At the time of application, your passport should have at least six months of validity.
After submitting the online application, you must complete fingerprint and facial biometric enrolment at a designated international airport or FRRO office.
The registration process can take up to one month, so frequent international travellers should complete it well before their planned trip.
How Does the FTI-TTP E-Gate Work?
Once you are registered, using the e-gate is relatively simple.
At the international terminal, go to the designated FTI-TTP e-gate and follow the instructions displayed on the machine.
Your identity will be checked using your registered biometric information. After successful verification, the immigration clearance process is completed automatically.
The facility is available for both departures and arrivals, allowing registered travellers to use it when leaving India and when returning.
Is FTI-TTP the Same as DigiYatra?
No. FTI-TTP and DigiYatra are separate services.
Even if you already use DigiYatra, you still need to register separately for FTI-TTP and complete its biometric enrolment to use the immigration e-gates.
For frequent international flyers, FTI-TTP can be particularly useful because it can reduce the time spent waiting at immigration.
The programme is also free, and membership can remain valid for up to 10 years, making it a useful option for people who regularly travel internationally.
