Medical treatment has become expensive, and branded medicines often cost more than many families can afford.
The good news is that a free government app can help you find affordable generic medicines and cut your medicine bills by up to 80%.
The Janaushadhi Sugam App, launched by the Ministry of Chemicals
and Fertilizers, helps users locate nearby Jan Aushadhi Kendras and check the availability of low-cost generic medicines.
Find Affordable Medicines Near You
The app uses GPS and Google Maps to show the nearest Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra.
You can search for medicines by entering the disease name or the medicine’s salt name, such as paracetamol.
It also compares the prices of generic medicines with branded alternatives, allowing you to see how much money you can save before buying.
Save More Without Compromising on Quality
Medicines available through Jan Aushadhi Kendras are usually 50% to 90% cheaper than many branded medicines sold in the market. This can significantly reduce your monthly healthcare expenses.
The app also provides information about medicine quality and lab testing.
According to the government, the medicines meet WHO-GMP quality standards, giving users confidence in both safety and effectiveness.
The Janaushadhi Sugam App is available for free on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
You can also access the service through the UMANG app.
