EPFO Service History Shows all your Old PF Records

Changing jobs often means getting a new PF Member ID.

While the UAN system was created to make PF management easier, old job records are not always linked correctly.

Sometimes, an old PF account may remain unconnected to your UAN.

In other cases, the previous employer may not have updated your date of leaving. Incorrect employer details or older PF records can also create problems.

These issues may remain unnoticed for years and only come to light when you try to transfer your PF, withdraw money or claim pension benefits.

To make it easier for employees to keep track of their employment records, EPFO provides a Service History feature.

It lets you check your current and previous PF-linked job records in one place.

Why Should You Check Your PF Service History?

The Service History feature can help you quickly find missing or incorrect employment records.

For example, your previous employer may not have updated your date of leaving.

Your old PF account may also not be properly linked to your UAN.

These errors can cause unnecessary delays when you later try to transfer your PF balance or claim benefits.

By checking your service history regularly, you can spot such problems early.

If a previous job is missing or the leaving date is incorrect, you can contact your former employer and request a correction.

Fixing these details while your employment records are still available can be much easier than trying to correct them several years later.

It Can Also Help With PF Transfers

Service History can be particularly useful if you have changed jobs multiple times.

Ideally, an employee should have only one UAN throughout their career.

However, duplicate UANs can sometimes be created after changing jobs.

Checking your service history can help you see whether all your previous employment records are connected to the correct UAN.

If you find missing records or other discrepancies, it is better to get them corrected as soon as possible.

Otherwise, the issue could create complications when transferring your PF balance, making a withdrawal or applying for pension benefits.

How to Check Your EPFO Service History

You can check your PF employment records online through the EPFO Member e-Sewa portal.

Follow these simple steps:

Visit the EPFO Member e-Sewa portal.

Log in using your UAN and password.

Click on the ‘View’ option.

Select ‘Service History’.

You will then be able to see your employment records linked to your UAN.

The page generally shows details such as your current and previous employers, PF Member IDs, dates of joining and dates of leaving.

Checking these details from time to time can help you catch errors early and avoid last-minute PF-related problems.
