Several important rules have changed from August 1, 2026, and they could affect your daily life and finances.

The latest updates include cheaper commercial LPG cylinders, new Tatkal ticket rules, mandatory e-KYC for Ujjwala beneficiaries, KYC 2.0 rollout, and changes for credit card users.

Here’s everything you need to know.

1. Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Reduced

Oil marketing companies have reduced the prices of commercial LPG cylinders from August 1.

Delhi: Price reduced by ₹192

Kolkata: Price reduced by ₹209

Mumbai: Price reduced by ₹194

Chennai: Price reduced by ₹200

However, domestic LPG cylinder prices remain unchanged.

2. New Tatkal Ticket Token System Starts

Indian Railways has introduced a new token system for Tatkal ticket bookings.

Passengers can now collect a token and wait for their turn instead of standing in long queues at different counters. The new system is expected to make the booking process faster and more organized.

3. Ujjwala Scheme Beneficiaries Must Complete e-KYC

If you receive an LPG subsidy under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, completing e-KYC is now mandatory.

Beneficiaries who do not complete the process may face issues in receiving their LPG subsidy.

4. KYC 2.0 Rollout Begins

Banks, insurance companies, and mutual funds have started implementing KYC 2.0 from August 1.

Under the new system, financial institutions will access verified customer details from a central database. This means customers will no longer have to complete KYC repeatedly with different institutions, making the process faster and easier.

5. Credit Card Rule Changed

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has introduced new credit card billing rules.

Under the new framework, customers will get relief from certain charges linked to delayed bill payments, reducing the overall burden in some cases. The exact impact will depend on the card issuer’s implementation.

The RBI is also scheduled to hold its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting on August 5.

If policy rates are increased, fixed deposit (FD) interest rates may also rise in the coming months.
