The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced two new digital features on the RajmargYatra mobile app to make highway travel smoother and more convenient.
The newly launched Digital Local Pass and MargMitra Help Centre will help commuters avoid paperwork, reduce visits to toll plazas and get real-time assistance while travelling on National Highways.
The move is part of the government’s Digital India and Ease of Living initiatives aimed at improving travel experiences for millions of highway users.
Buy Local Toll Passes Online Without Visiting Toll Plazas
For the first time, eligible commuters can now purchase a monthly Local Toll Pass online through the RajmargYatra app.
The service has initially started at the Mundka–Bakkarwala Toll Plaza on Delhi’s Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and will gradually be expanded to other toll plazas across the country.
People living within a 20-kilometre radius of an eligible toll plaza can apply for the digital pass.
Once approved, the pass allows unlimited travel through that toll plaza during its validity period.
No More Paperwork for Local Pass Approval
Earlier, commuters had to visit toll plazas personally and submit documents to prove their eligibility for a local pass.
With the new digital system, the entire process can now be completed online within minutes.
The RajmargYatra app uses a consent-based verification system connected with DigiLocker and VAHAN. It automatically verifies details such as:
Residential address
Vehicle registration information
Linked FASTag details
This makes the approval process quicker, safer and more transparent.
MargMitra Provides Real-Time Highway Support
Along with the Digital Local Pass, NHAI has also introduced MargMitra, an intelligent help centre inside the RajmargYatra app.
The feature allows users to access several services from one platform, including:
Tracking complaints in real time
Filing appeals if a complaint is not resolved properly
Checking FASTag blacklisting status
Viewing pending e-notices
Reporting road safety problems such as accidents, stalled vehicles and illegal road blockages
MargMitra aims to provide faster solutions to commuter problems and improve communication between highway users and authorities.
RajmargYatra App Gains Popularity
The new features come after the growing success of the RajmargYatra app.
According to NHAI, more than 80 lakh Annual Passes have already been sold through the app, with instant digital activation.
The authority expects the latest services to encourage more people to use the app while reducing crowds, paperwork and delays at toll plazas.
