Planning to visit a bank this week? You may want to rethink your schedule.

Bank branches in many parts of India will remain closed for four straight days, which could affect your important work.

In fact, Wednesday, March 25 is your last good chance to finish any in-person banking before the long break begins.

Why Banks Are Closed for 4 Days

The extended closure is due to a mix of festivals and the regular weekend.

Here’s the breakdown:

March 26 (Thursday): Ram Navami – Banks closed in many cities

March 27 (Friday): Regional holiday in select states

March 28 (Saturday): Fourth Saturday (banks closed nationwide)

March 29 (Sunday): Weekly holiday

Together, this creates a four-day gap in banking services across several regions.

Cities Where Banks Will Be Closed

On March 26 (Ram Navami), banks will remain shut in cities like:

Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ranchi, Shimla and more.

On March 27, closures will affect places such as:

Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Patna, and Vijayawada.

However, cities like New Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Kochi may not observe the holiday on March 26.

It’s best to check with your local branch before visiting.

What Services Will Still Work?

Even though branches are closed, digital banking will continue without interruption.

You can still use:

Mobile banking apps

Internet banking

UPI services

ATMs

NEFT and RTGS transfers

But keep in mind, branch-related services won’t be available, such as:

Cash deposits at counters

Cheque submissions

Demand drafts

In-person account services

Financial Year-End Makes It More Important

March is already a busy month for banks.

According to the Reserve Bank of India, there are 18 bank holidays this month, including weekends.

Adding to this, March 31 will also be a holiday in some states due to Mahavir Jayanti.

This means March 30 (Monday) becomes the last full working day for banks before the financial year ends.

What You Should Do Now

If you have any important bank work:

Try to complete it before the holiday stretch

Use digital services wherever possible

Double-check your local branch schedule

A little planning now can save you from last-minute stress later.
