There is big news for ration card holders. According to the latest information, they will receive three times the usual amount of food grains in April.

The central government led by Narendra Modi has announced that ration for three months will be given together in April.

As per the Department of Food and Public Distribution, beneficiaries will get ration for April, May, and June 2026 in one go during April.

This update comes shortly after a new rule for ration cards was implemented.

Strict Action Against Fake Ration Cards

The government shared on the social media platform X that all eligible beneficiaries can collect their ration from the nearest fair price shop at the scheduled time.

Earlier, the government informed Parliament that 4.141 million ineligible ration cards were cancelled across the country in 2025. This step was taken to ensure that only deserving people receive the benefits.

Digitization Brings More Transparency

The government has increased the use of technology in the Public Distribution System to make the process more transparent.

Ration card and beneficiary data have been fully digitized across India

Electronic Point of Sale (ePOS) machines are now installed in almost all ration shops

Distribution has become more automated and efficient

Aadhaar Linking and Better Distribution System

According to the government:

99.2% of beneficiaries are linked with Aadhaar

Around 98.75% of ration distribution is done using Aadhaar-based biometric authentication

These reforms aim to make sure that rations reach the right people and to prevent issues like food grain theft.

Because of these improvements, all ration card holders will receive three months’ worth of food grains together starting in April.
