The Income Tax Department has asked taxpayers to ignore certain email communications sent as part of the Advance Tax e-Campaign for Assessment Year 2026-27.

Some of these emails reportedly contained inaccurate information about “significant transactions.”

The department acknowledged the error and apologized for any inconvenience caused, assuring taxpayers that the matter is being resolved in coordination with its service provider.

What Taxpayers Should Do

Taxpayers have been advised to disregard the earlier email notifications.

The Income Tax Department clarified that such emails are only meant as reminders to review financial information on the Compliance Portal and ensure proper advance tax compliance.

To verify transaction details, taxpayers should visit the e-Campaign tab on the Compliance Portal, accessible through the official Income Tax e-Filing portal.

Official Statement

The department posted the clarification on its official X account, stating:

KIND ATTENTION TAXPAYERS! Clarification has been issued regarding certain email communications sent under the Advance Tax e-Campaign for AY 2026-27 (FY 2025-26).”

This step ensures taxpayers stay informed while the technical issue is being resolved, helping avoid confusion or incorrect tax filings.
