The Government of Delhi has set up around 50 centers across the capital to distribute the Pink Saheli Card for women and transgender people. The distribution process started on Tuesday at these centers.
The Pink National Common Mobility Card was launched on Monday by Droupadi Murmu under the One Nation, One Card initiative.
With this card, eligible women and transgender persons can travel free on Delhi buses. The same smart card can also be used for travel on the metro and other public transport services.
Where and How the Card Is Being Issued
District Magistrate (DM) and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) offices, along with selected depots of the Delhi Transport Corporation, have been made card distribution centers. Cards are being issued daily at all 50 centers from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Each Pink Card will be linked to the beneficiary’s mobile number and Aadhaar. This will help verify age, gender, and Delhi residency.
The new card will replace the existing paper Pink Ticket, making the system fully digital and touch-free. Travel records will also be stored digitally, which will improve transparency.
Travel Benefits and Card Types
The Pink Card allows free travel on Delhi’s DTC and cluster buses. It can also be used to make payments on the Delhi Metro and the Regional Rapid Transit System.
This means passengers can use a single card for different transport systems, making travel easier and more convenient.
Under this scheme, three types of cards will be issued:
Pink Card – for eligible women
Blue Card – for general passengers
Orange Card – for monthly pass holders
At present, the Pink and Blue Cards are being issued in the first phase. The Orange Card will be introduced later.
Free of Cost and Issuing Agencies
The government has decided that the Pink Card will be provided completely free of charge. The responsibility of issuing the cards has been given to Hindon Mercantile Limited (MufinPay) and Airtel Payments Bank Limited.
A dedicated online portal has also been created to help women apply for and understand the process. A user guide is available in Hindi for easy assistance.
